History from Stockholm’s Molly Nilsson was one of the more grossly unappreciated albums from last year. Her music paints in cold tones and her vocals are reminiscent of Nico or even a female Matt Berninger of The National. In fact, her sound as a whole has many of the same elements of The National. On June 21st, Nilsson will be releasing her fifth and latest album The Travels via Dark Skies Association/Night School. The first single from the LP is pleading “Dear Life.” The lyrics read like a diary entry of someone searching for something more. Listen to and watch the video directed by Chris Filippini and Nilsson below.

Song : Haerts : “All The Days”

“Wings” from Brooklyn’s Haerts is easily one of the best tracks you will hear this year. All you have to do is listen to our Sirius XMU radio show each Tuesday and you will hear that song as a constant in our rotation. We, now, get another equally captivating song titled “All The Days.” Stevie Nick anyone? Expect an album from the group later this year, but in the meantime stream their latest below.

It is truly hard to believe that Andy D could be any raunchier, but he ratchets it up a notch in his new video, “Nasty.” Andy once agains brings plenty of flesh and sweat as he outlines all the “nasty” he does and is gonna do to his counterpart, Anna Vision. Oreo Jones makes an excellent workout party for the D as well. Andy D released Warcries this past January through Rad Summer Records.

Song : Sombear : “Love You In The Dark”

Sombear is the new musical project of Minneapolis’ Brad Hale (of Now, Now). The project serves as an outlet for his love of dance pop and house music during his younger years in the late 90s and early 2000s. He will be releasing his debut, Love You In The Dark, on July 23rd via Chris Walla’s (Death Cab for Cutie) label Trans-Records. As an introduction, he has released the title track to the LP. There is something cold and dark about the track that just seems to connect to the listener. Stream it below.

Song : Classixx : “Valley Vacation”

Hanging Gardens, the debut LP from Classixx, has only been out a week, but various tracks from the fantastic release have slowly been infiltrating our various mixes for parties and outdoor get-togethers, lately. The album serves as the perfect compliment to any and all things summer. To build on the momentum of the release, the Los Angeles pair dropped the new and non-LP cut “Valley Vacation.” It is a mesmerizing, synthed-out instrumental. Stream it below.

While I have never really been able to get into the HBO show True Blood, their latest soundtrack for the series is something to get behind. Scheduled for release on May 28th via ATO Records, it features the likes of My Morning Jacket, Deep Valley, The Flaming Lips, and Warpaint to name a few. Additionally, everyone’s favorite down home mamajamas Alabama Shakes are contributing a new one titled “Pocket Change.” It is a simple little throwback ditty that would be perfect to throw on for your next backyard BBQ.
