New Music + Tour : Dark Dark Dark

Someone get Jim Jarmusch on the phone, I’ve found his new favorite band.

I’m a little ashamed to say that I’ve yet to get my butt out to see Dark Dark Dark, but it seems the Twin Cities-based quintet has a lot hopping these days. On October 2nd, DDD will be taking the wrapper off their new full-length, Wild Go, at First Avenue with the help of Roma di Luna, who will also be rolling out a new record. Wild Go officially hits the racks three days later (pre-order it here), but by that time, DDD will be waste deep in a month-long jaunt through Eastern, Southern and, of course, Middle America.

If you’ve not heard DDD prior to this, resist the temptation to write them off as yet another gaggle of Arcade Fire pillagers. Sure, there’s some AF vibe here, but DDD is much (don’t make me say it) darker. And while you’re sure to catch glimpses that recall the Beiruts and Gogols of the music world, DDD feels like there’s a lot more going on just on the other side of the cellar door. Something not quite right, and subsequently more appealing.
