Sam Owens, the New York-based musician, songwriter, and producer that records music under the moniker Sam Evian will release his new album You, Forever this coming June 1st through Saddle Creek Records. We recently featured the album track “IDGAF” on our SIRIUS XMU show, and now Sam is back with two new preview tracks to keep our excitement high. I’m really loving the slacker meander of “You, Forever.” Sam says…

“A few years back, I had a prolific week of writing after I fell on some icy concrete and smacked my head on a steel grate. I’m sure I sustained some sort of concussion, which left me feeling pretty lucid. I had been thinking about Bowie a lot, and decided to try and write something with a ‘Rock and Roll Suicide’ kinda vibe. ‘You, Forever’ just tumbled out of my head, lyrics, melody and all. It was kind of stream of consciousness, which is rare for me. I shelved the song and forgot about it, but dug it out when I was preparing to make this record. It was exciting to sing the words again. They felt more potent than I remembered, but still had the charm of a nice head injury. ‘If you’re anxious, If you’re worn, if you’re keeping to yourself on the telephone’ …who isn’t?”
