Listen to “Blood Under My Belt” by The Drums

It has been three years since The Drums released a new album, but that all changes this summer. Jonny Pierce and crew have signed with Anti Records and will release “Abysmal Thoughts” on June 16. Befitting the celebration, the first single, “Blood Under My Belt,” is a shiny, happy, summer pop jam. Don’t let that fool you though, Pierce wrote this record coming out of a painful break-up and he’s going to be raining down some Morrissey/Smiths-level pain in this new one. In talking about the new album Pierce stated:

“Happiness can be confusing to me. It shows up out of nowhere, and before you can even get used to it, it’s vanished. But Abysmal Thoughts? I can rely on them – and with the political chaos that is raining down, who knows when these dark feelings will subside?”
