BOYO, the project of Robert Tilden born out of the dissolution of Bobby T. and the Slackers, dropped one of the more compelling under-the-radar gems a few months back with his debut album Control. The album pushed him to the forefront to those cultivating a new generation of pyschedelic-tinged garage and lo-fi rock in a similar vein to maybe Alex G. New EP Machines was born out of the making of the LP. According to Tilden, the three songs that comprise the release “were from earlier in those sessions and were a little scarier and needed to be together, separate from the rest.” The tracks have a subtle patina and emotional separation that differentiate them from the tracks heard on the debut, but also serve as a nice companion piece to compliment those as well. The EP in physical form for purchase here.
