After hearing a new single from Cults yesterday, we now get a new song from their drummer, Cory Stier, and his project Mrs. Magician. In addition to Stier, Jacob Turnbloom and Tommy Garcia round out the lineup for the San Diego trio that last year released their solid debut, Strange Heaven. After finishing support for the release, they band had a bunch of great leftovers not placed on the debut that they decided to compile into the album appropriately titled B Sides slated for release on September 3rd through Stier’s label Thrill Me Records. “Dispicable Things” is the first single and mixes California surf-rock melodies with fuzzed out punk. It is no fret rock at its best and will make you see that this is not just an album of toss-aways, but band that had too many good songs to fit on one release.
