After releasing their debut LP, Strange Grey Days, Vancouver garage soul act Chains of Love are already set to release their follow-up. Misery Makers is slated to see the light of day spring of 2013 via Manimal/FKLG. While their debut was darker in tones, this one is said to have a much brighter, upbeat sound. Production duties for the album were handled by guitarist Felix Fung with it being mixed by Richard Gottehrer (Dum Dum Girls, Blondie).
The first song revealed, “Pretend”, is indicative of this shift in sound and mood with its vibrant drum beat, layered guitars, and swirling horns. You can hear new addition to the band, vocalist Aileen Bryant, bringing more robust harmonies complimenting front woman Nathalia Pizarro. Grab the cut below.
