New Video : Stuyvesant : Duly Noted

Garden Staters Stuyvesant may not have written the book on punk-infused power pop, but it’s on their bookshelf and they certainly skimmed it once or twice before getting to work on their newest release, the Beach Boys-ribbing Fret Sounds. With copious amounts of crunchy guitar and hyperactive drumming, each number feels as though it is literally splitting at the seams. Throw in some tasty harmonies, and you have a record shelf-ready to score even your most ill-conceived summer roadtrips. Current single Duly Noted reminds me a little of very early (say Hold Me Up-era) Goo Goo Dolls, well before they became an adult-contemporary act.

In addition, I’m going to try to make up for an earlier oversight by sharing the band’s first single from Fret Sounds, a driving homage to the young women from the city where I spent my formative years, St. Cloud. Thanks for the glasses, ladies. And the memories.
