L.A.’s The Inevitable Backlash is a little like that thing that’s been growing on your back for the past couple months, but you’re afraid to show to a doctor. After a career spanning five years, and three fine records under their belts, the band elected to hole up with Manny Nieto (The Breeders, Los Lobos, Rumpsringa) in his Lincoln Heights studio and recorded their newest, Boys Got A Future, directly to recycled 2-inch tape. Boys Got A Future is out now on Hegemony Records, and while it might not represent any stylistic leaps for the band, its unapologetic approach to punk-pop is guaranteed to loosen more than a few fillings if not careful. Case in point, the new single, their buzzsaw cover of a lesser-known Supremes’ number, Love Is Like An Itching In My Heart.
