New Video : MAKE OUT : I Don’t Want Anybody That Wants Me

No question, MAKE OUT is the best thing that could have come out of the dissolution of Junior Senior. After that much-admired unit went the way of the dodo, Jesper Mortensen left London for a brief reprieve in his native Denmark before hopping to NYC in search of his next pop challenge. Fate would have it that one of the first souls he encountered in his new hometown was Leah Hennessey, aka the step-daughter of The New York Dolls’ David Johansen. The prime time-ready MAKE OUT finally came together in mid-2010 and debut single, I Don’t Want Anybody That Wants Me, was released on December 14th.

Now, if you’re in the market for sophistication or pretense, I recommend avoiding MAKE OUT like a dirty needle in the park. Working with producer Nicolas Vernhes (Dirty Projectors, Animal Collective, The Fiery Furnaces), the band has reclaimed a gutstrung and gloriously trashlicious sound that would make Joan Jett stand bolt upright and smack Cheetah Chrome. The band’s How To EP is available now, and if you’re in the Bowery on March 16th or 17th, git yer ass over to the ballroom to catch MAKE OUT opening for David J and those boys who used to dress as girls.
