What to Look Forward to in 2011

Happy New Year to you all, and thank you for your patronage in 2010 of MyOldKentuckyBlog.com. We appreciate you readers, commenters, lurkers and even you haters. We are grateful for you all.

Now that 2010 has past, we can look forward with eager anticipation to 2011’s upcoming releases. I’m sure there are many more out there, but we don’t have all day, and neither do you. Here are some artists and releases we are looking forward to. Afterwards you’ll find some highlights from the first three months of 2011…

Andy D – With the fury and energy of a modern internet viking, this wild, party starter combines rap, rock and electro with a sweaty, dance-filled stage show. Andy D is the latest signee to Roaring Colonel Records.

MP3 : Andy D – Hey Tina!

Dreamers Of The Ghetto – They’re recording now, and you can expect some amazing dream-rock and have a very good stage show for such a young band. Plus, they look like Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome. Check out their track “Phone Call.”

MP3 : Dreamers Of The Ghetto – Phone Call

EMA – Erika Anderson, former one-half of The Gowns, will release her solo project debut through Souterrain Transmissions this year. MOKB played her track “Marked” on SIRIUS XM Blog Radio for much of the year and it always elicited a great response.

MP3 : EMA – The Grey Ship

Lykke Li – could this be the album that launches Lykke Li into the Robyn-level stratosphere? I hope so. Lykke’s forthcoming LP Wounded Rhymes will be released on March 1st. A very bold and confident-sounding Lykke gave us all a sneak…

MP3 : Lykke Li – Get Some

Julianna Barwick – will release The Magic Place through Asthmatic Kitty Records in 2011. Sure to be a beautiful album if the lead single was any indication.

MP3 : Julianna Barwick – The Magic Place

Bobby – a new project featuring Molly of the band Mountain Man. Beautiful, atmospheric tunes.

Deerhoof has been streaming their upcoming album, one track per country at a time, one week at a time, until its release on January 25th, 2011. So far, sounds great.

Slothpop – The Indianapolis pop band has created a beautiful album. Attend the local release at Radio Radio on January 8th.
