In only its second year of existence, the Hopscotch Music Festival is becoming one of the better musical events in the country. The Raleigh, NC based festival takes place at 12 different venues this weekend, September 8th-10th. The festival features 135 bands at night, day parties, poster exhibitions, and more. This year some of the festival headliners are The Flaming Lips and Guided By Voices and more well-known indie acts such as Toro y Moi, The Dodos, J Mascis, Titus Andronicus, and Twin Shadow also playing throughout the weekend. The festival is owned and run by the local arts magazine, The Independent Weekly.
MOKB and our record label, Roaring Colonel Records, are excited that two artists we have upcoming releases with, Dreamers of the Ghetto and Cheyenne Marie Mize (performed last night), are part of the festival.
Dreamers of the Ghetto are scheduled to open for The Flaming Lips and Superchunk at the Raleigh City Plaza at 5:45pm on Saturday. Roaring Colonel is releasing a new 7″ featuring the radio edit of “Tether” w/ b-side “Heavy Love” this month! These are super-limited to only 300 copies, so get your’s now!
