Listen to Clairo’s Latest Track “Flamin’ Hot Cheetos”

 photo Clairo_zpsqlfhg9qt.png

Boston’s Claire Cottrill aka Clairo is one of the more versatile artists on the net and she keeps on pushing out vibey song after song via her Soundcloud. Her latest is a wistful love song about a crush titled after one of our favorite bad habits, “Flamin’ Hot Cheetos,” although it has nothing to do with the delicious snacks. Maybe its her nickname for the track’s inspiration or a personal idiosyncrasy about their interactions. Regardless, it is good, like everything else she touches. We can only hope she plans to put together a proper album in the near future.

Toro y Moi Announces New LP, Unveils Video for “Girl Like You”

 photo toroymoi2_zpsy6qdqzmw.png

One of the hardest workers and true chameleons in the game, Chaz Bear (fka Bundick) releasing his fifth studio, named Boo Boo, album under the Toro y Moi moniker on July 7th via Carpark Records. The album was recorded over the last year in Portland, Oregon during a trying time for the multi-talented artist. The following is a personal statement from the man himself about the LP:

After 7 years of touring and recording, I found myself becoming self conscious about my position in life as a “famous” person, or at least my version of whatever that is. My dreams had become my reality, yet I was somehow unable to accept this new environment. I couldn’t help but fall into what might be described as an identity crisis. A feedback loop of fearful thoughts left me feeling confused. I felt as though I no longer knew what it was that I actually wanted and needed in and out of life, and at times I felt unable to even tell what was real.

During this time of personal turmoil, I turned to music as a form of therapy, and it helped me cope with the pain that I was feeling. I’d listen to the same ambient song over and over again, trying to insulate myself from reality. I fell in love with space again.

By the time I felt ready to begin working on a new record, I knew that this idea of space within music would be something that propelled my new work forward. The artists that were influencing what I was making included everyone from Travis Scott to Daft Punk, Frank Ocean to Oneohtrix Point Never, Kashif and Gigi Masin. I recognized that the common thread between these artists was their attention to a feeling of space, or lack thereof. I decided that I wanted to make a Pop record with these ideas in mind. That idea for a record is what eventually became Boo Boo.

Below is a visual for the melodic first single “Girl Like You.” Pre-order the release on all formats here.

Watch Video for Hoops’ “Sun’s Out”

Nostalgic sheen and sun-soaked vibes are in heavy abundance on Hoops’ debut LP, Routines, out now via Fat Possum Records (and available for purchase here). With that, it makes sense that found footage extraordinaire David Dean Burkhart would work his magic for one of their tracks. “Sun’s Out” gets a retro visual featuring clips of ’80s commericials, show, and so on capturing the careless moods of the song. Find the video below and be sure to catch the band on one of their remaining dates on their latest tour. You will find us at their show here in our backyard of Indianapolis with other Indiana artist Oreo Jones and Amy O, who recently dropped the fantastic song “Lavender Night” off her upcoming LP. Should be an amazing night of live music.
